For the Protection of Family

They were laying in a secluded forrest, lush and green with trees and plants never seen before. The exotic calls of wild birds could be heard far off while the sound of a waterfall was nearby, swishing down to the lagoon below spraying up a lightly vivid rainbow right next to where the two lovers made love under a canopy of trees above. He held her close, his strong hands moved slowly across her body, tantilizing her skin as if he knew exactly where to touch, and he did know. His lips were gently pecking at hers, as both of their ragged panting breaths flushed softly against the lovers faces like a beach breeze on a hot summer night. Kirian knew she could never love another man the way she did Everic as the two soulmates lay in their bed, enjoying each others presences, their naked bodys like one, their hearts fused in a plethora of emotions. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up into his eyes, it was as if the two had never gone through any of their tribulations as there was a sense of serene peace surrounding them. Everic looked down into his wifes eyes and said something to her, the look on his face was one of joy and love. Kirian could not hear his words, but she could feel it instead yet she still wanted to know what her husband had said as she whispered up to him.

"Say it again, my love.. I didn't hear you.." she said. Everic smirked at her the way he usually did, tapping her lightly on the nose playfully before repeating his words. Again, Kirian could not hear him, yet she felt what he had said. "Nothing can keep me away from you, my love.. Nothing.." was what she felt and heard in her mind despite the sound being absent from his lips. As he held her there, caressing her face, she felt tears on her cheeks which he wiped away, yet she could not understand why they were falling. Maybe she was so happy that it hurt, but she didn't know whether to cry or laugh as she was so in love, she felt she could burst. As she reached up, gently stroking her thumb over his cheek, she wanted to tell him how much she loved him and how happy he made her but her words were now absent as well. It became a struggle as if she could not even breathe. Everic looked back at her bewildered as he awaited her words. He leaned down to kiss her, just to show her that it was alright but he suddenly began to appear as if he too was effected by the phenomena. Both of them now voiceless, began to realize that something was off. Kirian appeared afraid while Everic seemed his usual strategic self, trying to quickly analyze the situation but it was apparent by his tightened hold on his wife that he was worried as well.

This strong man, laying on top of her, naked in all his glory, suddenly began to feel lighter and lighter despite his muscular physique. Kirian grabbed onto him, she knew there was no way in the universe she would ever let him go as he seemed to be getting light enough to float away. Her grip was strong and so was his as he hooked his arms tighter around his love. Kirian's voice was blurred and distorted, barely audible as if heard from a great distance as she cried out to him, tears now streaming down her cheeks for a whole new purpose. "I'll never let you go, Everic... you have to hold on!" was barely heard as Everic seemed to be reacting more differently, more stern in his composure. He seemed calm despite the strange situation playing out, in fact, he seemed to be trying to keep Kirian calm as his weight seemed to go to nothingness. Suddenly, all the lovely sounds that had once surrounded them seemed to come to a deafening halt, and then she finally heard his voice. "I have to..." he said softly to her, his eyes still full of love but also blanketed with worry. Kirian shook her head as she heard his words aloud, she instantly knew in her heart what it meant and it made her hold on even tighter. She felt so helpless despite her best efforts to hold on to him, it was not enough as he began to phase right through her arms, enough to where he began to float away anyway.

"Nooooooooooooo!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, yet not a sound was made. She sat up, as he looked into her eyes just as sad, he appeared to be trying to tell her it would be alright but she was already too far in a panic to feel his words as she had done before. Grasping at nothingness, her hands passed through his body as he continued to float upwards, nearly out of her reach. She thought she could use the force to save him, but it became clear that she could no longer use the force. She was powerless, as she scrambled to her feet, not a care in the world that she was stark-naked with both arms raised high in the air as she tried over and over to jump up towards her fading husband with no prevail. He was almost completely gone as she jumped one final time, some trickle of the force still with her, gave her enough strength to leap what seemed like 15 feet in the air, her right hand outstretched as she reached for his hand. Despite him being transparent, their fingertips touched for a brief moment and their eyes made contact with each other just before Everics existence completely disappeared.

Kirian jolted awake in a cold sweat, her right hand outstretched just as it was in her dream, her left hand clutched over her white camisol nightgown as if it was there to insure that her pounding heart wouldn't burst out of her chest as she panted in a panic. The dream began to diminish and their bedroom on the Phantom was slowly coming into her consciousness now. Her hearing was stunted a few seconds temporarily just like in the dream, so much that it took her a moment to hear that Alourdes was also awake and crying in her crib. "It .. it was a dream... it was a dream.." she said to herself quickly trying to calm herself down so that when she picked up Lore she wouldn't upset the child more than she already was. "Mommy is coming... shhhh I'm right here.." Kirian said as she threw the sheets back, and crawled out of the bed. She wiped both of her cheeks with the back of her hands in a haste as she made her way to the crib to pick up the baby. Alourdes at the time was two and it had only been a week since Everic had gone away to draw his families enemies away for their safety. Kirian held Alourdes close, rubbing her back gently as she walked around the room whispering a gentle "Shhh shhh" to calm the child down. Alourdes too, had tears running down her cheeks and Kirian gently wiped them away.

"Daddy will be alright, don't cry little one.. shhh, it's alright..He will come back to us soon." she said, also trying to convince herself. "Daddy loves us both very very much, Lore.." Kirian said softly. Alourdes never cried for long when one of her parents held her. She began to settle down as Kirian carried her to the ship kitchen to fetch a warm bottle of milk. Kirian carried Lore back to the bedroom and sat down in the comfortable chair Everic had bought for them as she began rocking Lore gently. She tested the milk temperature then smiled down at the child as she looked into her gray eyes, chuckling lightly as she looked at her dark locks of hair, the same color as her fathers. Kirian had in fact been surprised to find out the child didn't have her red hair but she was glad because Kirian had always felt awkward with her bronze-honey skin and dark red hair.

"You're going to have your fathers cunning as well, I can tell.. " Kirian whispered to the little girl as she began feeding on her bottle. Lore blinked her bright gray eyes at her mother, cooing a little before mimicing her mother as she often began to do lately. "Daaaa daa daaa" she giggled and wiggled her little legs a little as she reached up to hold the bottle herself a little with Kirian's help. "That's right little one.. " Kirian said with a smile. With the left arm that cradled around Lore, Kiri gently rubbed Lore's chubby little tummy and smiled at the little girl as her eyes began to slowly shut, despite her struggling to keep them open, enjoying looking up at her mother's face.  She had not saw the dream her mother had, but she had felt her mother's anxiety through the force, and now that Kirian was calming down, so was Lore as she slowly drifted back off to sleep with Kirian cuddling her close, rocking in the chair for most of the night. Kirian knew she would'nt be able to go back to sleep after such a heartbreaking dream-gone-wrong, and she was surprised to have slept the few hours she did, since she'd had insomnia since the night she last saw her husband. Holding Lore was the only thing that made her feel the slightest bit better, but even with that, she couldn't help looking over to the bedroom door, expecting her love to walk through the door.
